We seek to invest in partners and thought leaders who share our vision to develop or scale impactful palliative care innovations so that people with serious illness—and their caregivers—have access to quality palliative care everywhere. Areas of funding interest are workforce, consumer awareness and engagement, access to community-based palliative care, and underserved populations.

It is building upon our history of strategic philanthropy to meet community needs in a world changed by COVID-19 and multiple social determinates of health. A partnership to co-fund seven national organizations working to align messaging that improves understanding and increases awareness around palliative care.

American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine
Palliative Care Quality Collaborative – EHR Integration

Huntsman Cancer Foundation
Execute a 3-year evaluation of a new home-based cancer supportive care and palliative care delivery model called Huntsman at Home.

Hospice and Palliative Nurse Association
Develop and implement an intensive 18-month HPNA Nurse Leadership Development Program.

Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope
Expansion of Primary Palliative Care Nursing Education for Undergraduate and Graduate Nurses to improve access to quality palliative care in community, rural and underserved areas.
Cambia Palliative Care Center of Excellence
Three year expansion to leverage two of their nationally known bodies of work in palliative care. Funding builds on previous $10 million award directed towards expanding access and training the palliative care workforce.
Application Guidelines
Grant requests should be reflective of the size and scope of
both the project and the organization. Projects should include:

- Support from the organization’s leadership
- Alignment between the organization’s core mission and the proposed project.
- Well-defined project goals and measurable objectives
- An evaluation plan that includes measurement tools and techniques
- A plan to communicate outcomes and lessons learned to be disseminated to appropriate audiences
- Diverse or potentially diverse funding sources and plans for sustainability
- Potential for broad impact
