Congratulations 2016 Sojourns Scholars

The caliber of the grantees selected for our Sojourns Scholar Leadership Program reflects the transformation of innovation to impact we envisioned when launching this national leadership and workforce development initiative in 2013.

Cambia Health Foundation is proud to announce the 10 outstanding palliative care physicians and nurses selected from across the nation for our 2016 Sojourns Scholar Leadership Program.

The 2014 and 2015 cohorts have achieved notable accomplishments across all areas of palliative care. Recently, Lynn F. Reinke, PhD, ARNP and Zara Cooper, MD, MSc, were invited by the National Institutes on Aging and the National Palliative Care Research Center to identify palliative care research priorities among non-cancer specialty services. Outcomes of this effort will include papers identifying research priorities for each specialty and a summary of cross-cutting themes among the specialty services. Collectively, these priorities will guide future funding opportunities for the field of palliative care.

The participation of our Scholars in projects of this caliber reflect the transformation of innovation to impact that we envisioned when launching this national leadership and workforce development initiative in 2013. We have also made other key investments that are advancing the palliative care field. In fact, many of the investments Cambia Health Foundation has made since 2009 align with and support all five key recommendations outlined in the “Dying in America” report (see table below).

Please take a moment to meet the talented men and women who represent the future of palliative care. We could not be more excited about what the future holds as we all work to advance patient-centered care for individuals and their families.
