Stories of generosity from Cambia employees

Local impact, lasting change
Resilient communities are built on compassion, connection and collective action. This year, Cambia employees have demonstrated time and again that they share this belief, showcased through meaningful action that's making a real difference in the communities where we live, work and play.

A celebration of giving

Our 2025 Celebration of Giving showcased the incredible heart of the Cambia community. Over just four days, more than 1,000 employees came together to support 1,370 nonprofits, generating over $460,000—a total that includes the 100% match provided by Cambia Health Foundation. This year's campaign saw record-breaking participation, with more employees and nonprofits involved than ever before. As our community of givers grows, so does our collective impact on the causes that matter most to us.

"One of the things that makes Cambia truly special is the heart and generosity of our employees," said Cambia Health Foundation president Peggy Maguire. "Our annual Celebration of Giving offers a powerful glimpse into who we really are, and this year their actions spoke volumes. I’m incredibly proud to be part of this community."

Responding to critical community needs

When communities face urgent challenges, Cambia employees step up. The recent lapse in funding for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits impacted millions of Americans. Our nonprofit partners in food security let us know that financial contributions were the most effective way to address the crisis. In response, we invested $100,000 directly (across 10 organizations) and offered a 100% match on employee donations to the funding recipients, helping to ensure our neighbors have access to this most basic need.

Later, when severe flooding impacted communities across Washington state, local organizations worked to provide emergency shelter, food and resources to those affected. We made quick work of donating $25,000 split across American Red Cross Northwest Region, Helping Hands (in Sedro-Woolley) and Community Action of Skagit County to help families navigate the crisis. Employees amplified the effort with donations that we matched dollar-for-dollar, providing critical support to those impacted when they need it most.

Volunteers in action

Cambia employees volunteer for causes close to their hearts year-round, and the holiday season is no exception. We're proud to celebrate their remarkable spirit of giving and the impact they have on their communities.

YWCA Utah Candy Cane Lane (Utah)

Each year, employees support YWCA Utah's Candy Cane Lane, a special holiday pop-up shop for survivors of domestic violence and their families who are rebuilding their lives. Employees organized an in-kind donation drive to stock the shop with essential items and then volunteered onsite to assist shoppers during their visit. This initiative reflects our belief that healthy communities start with caring for our neighbors, and we're grateful to YWCA for creating a platform where survivors and their families can celebrate the season with dignity and joy.

Communities In Schools of Tacoma (Washington)

Employees recently rolled up their sleeves for the second community service project of the year in support of Communities In Schools of Tacoma (CIS). CIS works directly with K-12 students facing challenges, including unmet basic needs. Volunteers assembled over 1,000 snack packs to be distributed throughout Tacoma schools. When basic needs are met, students stay present, calm and are ready to learn.

Supporting students in Boise (Idaho)

For students facing food insecurity, school closures can cause stress. During school hours, an elementary school in the Boise area offers a food pantry for students, but when its contents dwindled and shelves were sitting empty, Cambia employees stepped in to help. They assembled snack kits with hygiene products, cleaning supplies, and snacks for students facing food insecurity over winter break. The team also fulfilled wishes from the school's giving tree, ensuring that all families would receive some holiday cheer.

Access Senior Shoeboxes (Oregon)

Employees in southern Oregon partnered with Access to spread holiday cheer and combat loneliness among older adults in Jackson County. This year, employees assembled 200 "senior shoeboxes" filled with household necessities and thoughtful items, including winter gloves, socks with gripping bottoms, magnifying glasses, sugar-free candies and more. Employees hand-delivered 85 boxes to older adults, with Access distributing the remaining 115 before the holidays. This meaningful tradition brings warmth and connection to seniors during the season while ensuring they have essential winter supplies.

These stories represent just a glimpse of the ways we partner with Cambia employees to make a difference in our communities. Together, we're proving that healthy communities are built one neighbor, one volunteer hour and one act of kindness at a time.
